Scale of Pay: Rs. 37,400-67,000 (PB-4) with Grade Pay of Rs.10,000 (annual increment @3%) with allowances as per Central Government Rules.
Mode of Recruitment:
Tenure: 3 to 5 years or on attaining the age of superannuation as per extant Government instructions (60 years at present), whichever is earlier.
Probation period: One year
Age: Not exceeding 52 years. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be 01 July, 2013.
Qualifications: Doctorate in physical sciences/ chemical sciences/ engineering sciences/ materials science and technology/ nano science and technology.
Desirable: 1. Post - doctoral research
2. Original published work of high standard
3. Evidence of high professional eminence by way of recognition's like fellowship of academies, national/ international awards in science etc.
4. Evidence of patents/ technology transfer
Essential Experience for Direct Recruitment: 1. At least 16 years of experience in R&D in industrial and academic institutions and / or Science and Technology organizations or as faculty / scientist of recognized national / international universities / research Centres / corporate R&D Labs etc., out of which at least 3 years should be in managerial / administrative capacity for science & technology programmes, planning and development, budget & finance, coordination and such organizational matters.
2. R&D experience in physical sciences/ chemical sciences/ engineering sciences/ materials science and technology/ nano science and technology, with focus on nano and soft matter sciences.
[Note: The R&D experience will be counted after the Master's degree or equivalent including the Ph.D. period.]
Eligibility criteria for Recruitment on Deputation / Contract : In case of Recruitment by Deputation/Contract-Scientists or Technologists working in the Central/State Governments/Universities/Recognized Research Institutions/Semi-Government, Statutory or Autonomous Organisations in India,
(a) (i) holding analogous post;
or
(ii) 5 years regular service in the post carrying pay in the pay band of Rs.37400-67000+Grade Pay of Rs.8,900/- or
(iii) 7 years regular service in the post carrying pay in the pay band of Rs.37400-67000+Grade Pay of Rs.8,700/- or equivalent
(b) possessing the essential educational qualifications mentioned in Para ‘G’ and essential experience in Para ‘H’ above. Job Description :
(a) The Director will have the overall administrative control of the Centre and will provide high-level leadership to the Centre in identification of research programmes and projects of national and international relevance in the area of nano and soft matter science and related fields of research undertaken by the Centre. S/he will enthuse and motivate scientists of the Centre; promote creativity and excellence and create an atmosphere conducive to harmonious functioning of the Centre. S/he will interact and establish rapport with national and international, academic and professional institutions and specialists dealing with nano and soft matter sciences and will ensure multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional cooperation towards fulfilment of the objectives of the Centre.
(b) The Director shall steer the Centre to become an internationally recognized Centre of excellence in nano and soft matter science.
